Being a Female Instructor & Healer in the Golf Industry

There have been many topics and discussions on women in the golf industry, growing the game specifically for women and making it more inviting for females. Originally I thought I was going to solely focus on discussing this, but after listening to my gut - I wanted to share with others specifically what it is like being a female instructor & healer in the golf industry. It's time to shed some more light on the work that I do, and how it benefits men & women that I teach/work with of all ages and skill levels on and off the course.

Healer: a person who has the power to cure ill people without using ordinary medicines.

The basic definition of healing is the process of becoming whole. People use different words to describe healing, like: presence, mindfulness and consciousness. Healing is less about fixing yourself than it is a practice of letting go. It helps you release blocks - physical, emotional, and mental blocks and behaviors that keep you limited in your potential and true health. For example, you might suddenly realize that certain people in your life don't make sense any more, or you may lose interest in certain foods or activities you used to enjoy. In healing you often receive clarity and insight about your life path.

Working with men vs. women in golf

The golf industry is mostly male dominant and has been for quite sometime. Being a female golf instructor definitely helps other women feel more comfortable in this male dominant sport, but it also helps bring a different perspective to men who have mostly received golf lessons from other men and vice versa for women who have mostly received instruction from men. A lot of golfers that I encounter, tell me its very refreshing to receive instruction from a female because it's rare to have women teaching. In general this statement is true, but overall, I feel it's important to remember the golf club does not know if you are male or female.

We have a tendency to want to always categorize and separate men from women and right from wrong, but in the end IT'S UP TO YOU how you receive advice and how you perceive things. Whatever works for you is by far the most important key in picking a golf instructor. In most instances, a man feels more comfortable taking a lesson from a male and a women feels more at ease taking a lesson from another female, but that is not always the case. I believe its vital to chose your instructor based on whether or not they are the best fit for your personality and overall golf goals. I teach both men & women and use a combination of my 25+ years experience golfing and my intuitive abilities to be able to relate to each individual's needs.

Healing golfers

Not only do I give golf lessons where we focus on your golf swing, but I offer healing sessions that include a combination of golf mantras/affirmations, personalized practice routines, and energy healing sessions both in person and distant healing. In short - I incorporate healing your mind, body & spirit with golf. The shorter version of describing what I do: Mental Game Coach & Energy Healer.

Golf is arguably more mental than physical as I stated in my previous blog post. Whether you are an amateur or professional golfer - being able to have a strong mindset on the golf course is the difference between a par or a birdie, making the cut in a tournament, making the high school golf team, being able to complete a round of golf and keep your score, etc.

In the end, you can be anything you want to be if you put your heart & soul into it. Don't categorize and limit yourself to another label: beginner, amateur, man, woman, professional. Becoming a great golfer will not happen overnight, but there is one thing that you have complete and 100% control of YOUR MINDSET. Focus on your goals, make space for it, and allow them unfold.

I would love to hear YOUR thoughts on this. Please reach out to me on Instagram @theintuitivegolfer or email me if you'd like to discuss working together!
